Why just read about WWII history when you can live it?

2.Kompanie/110. Panzergrenadier Regiment/11. Panzer Division is a member unit of the Northwest Historical Association (NWHA).

Our unit is made up of individuals from a wide cross section of Northwest communities, with members in Oregon, Washington, and Idaho.  Our age range is from 18 through 60-ish, with the majority in their 30s-40s. We represent a broad range of occupations including college student, attorney, Air Marshal and computer test equipment designer. Some of our members have a military background, but not all.  Some of us are militaria collectors, wargame players, or just enjoy reading and learning about the period.  All of us share an interest in WWII history from the German perspective.

The primary goal of our unit is to study, understand, and to the extent possible relive history through the eyes of a WWII German soldier.  We do this by collecting, wearing, and carrying the uniforms, equipment, insignia and weapons that these soldiers used during this conflict.

For the purpose of displays, parades, full scale war-gaming or reenacting, 11.Panzer represents a German Army Panzergrenadier (Armored Infantry) Regiment of the period 1939-1945. Our primary emphasis is on late-war appearance, uniforms, and equipment. By "late-war", we mean roughly 1944-1945. We strive for accuracy and authenticity in our impressions in terms of personal appearance, uniforms, equipment, etc.  To do any less would not properly honor the brave men who fought and died wearing these uniforms.

In general, we conduct several types of events each year:

    1. Tactical Events: Combat-oriented events which are closed to the public. Think of it as "war games".
    2. Living History Events: Educational displays set up at various sites, including military bases, museums, schools, etc.
    3. Training Events: Events focused upon training exercises.
    4. Public Battles: Scripted battles performed for the public at large.
    5. Some events combine more than one activity.

Most of our Tactical Events are held in northwestern Oregon. We generally try to schedule about 6 Tactical Events per year, 1 or 2 Public Battles, and 2-3 Living History events. Of course, almost no one can make it to every event. Generally, no Tactical Events are scheduled during the rainy months of December, January, sometimes November. Our big Public Battle is traditionally held on the 3rd weekend of July at Fort Stevens State Park (near Astoria OR), an old US Army Coastal Artillery fort with some great fortifications, etc.

We have scheduled several formal Training Events, on fairly specific topics. Included are classes which would earn the Gebirgsjäger (Mountaineer) Sleeve Badge, the Skijäger (Ski Infantry) Sleeve Badge, and the Jäger Sleeve Badge.

The NWHA 2007 Events Schedule is posted at: http://www.nwha.org/events.html
